June 2023: Impact 4Life Wellbeing are delighted to announce a Health and Wellness Family Fun Day, in collaboration with NHS Blood and Transplant (Community Grants Programme). The event takes place at Edgbaston Community Centre at 40, Woodview Drive on Saturday 29th July 2023 from 2.00pm to 6.00pm.
The Community Grants Programme is part of the NHS‘ commitment to build support for donation amongst Black, Asian, mixed heritage and minority ethnic communities. Ethnicity is a multidimensional concept with many links to health. The Community Grants Programme aims to help tackle some of the health inequalities affecting people from Black, Asian, mixed heritage and minority ethnic backgrounds. It aims to address the shortage of Black blood donors whose blood is used to treat conditions like sickle cell, the shortage of ethnically matched organs for those waiting for a transplant in all Black, Asian, mixed heritage and minority ethnic communities, and the need for ethnically matched stem cell donors.
Impact 4Life’s Health and Wellness Family Fun Day is one of many activities and events scheduled over the next twelve months to raise awareness of the importance of more black blood and organ donors coming forward. Additionally, the event which has a focus on health and wellness offers a fantastic opportunity for the community to get involved in lots of fun health and wellbeing activities including; Boxercise, Zumba, smoothie making, Tai Chi, Pilates, health advice and much more!
The demonstrations, workshops, activities and hand-out literature will be delivered by health and wellness professionals, and everyone is welcome to join in!
Shamala Antonio, Founder of Impact 4Life Wellbeing said:
We are delighted to be delivering this exciting project which is all about providing a platform where the community can come together, engaging in free and fun health and wellbeing activities- whilst also hearing from specialists and those with lived experience-the need for more black blood and organ donation within the community.
Because our event is free everyone can benefit, and it is guaranteed to be a fun-filled day that is suitable for the whole family!
At Impact 4Life we love bringing different groups together through our Fitness and Wellbeing programmes and we would like to thank The Community Grants Programme for this fantastic opportunity.”
