BBC Gardeners’ World Live Special Edition arrives at The NEC near Birmingham
A SPECIAL EDITION OF BBC GARDENERS’ WORLD LIVE COMES TO BIRMINGHAM FOR A LATE SUMMER CELEBRATION OF GARDENS AND GARDENING
Over four fabulous days, from 26th to 29th August, a one-off edited version of BBC Gardeners’ World Live returns to The NEC near Birmingham with a selection of favourite outdoor features from the much-loved annual event. The curated Special Edition will be full of gardening inspiration and entertainment for visitors to enjoy including stunning Show Gardens, inspirational Beautiful Borders and top tips from green-fingered experts.
The line-up for this year’s special edition includes BBC Two’s Gardeners’ World presenters Adam Frost on Thursday, Monty Don on Friday and Saturday, plus Carol Klein on Sunday. Toby Buckland also joins the line-up on Thursday and Friday. Visitors will be able to drop in at the brand-new My Gardeners’ World Stage to hear the experts share their ideas, stories, tips and techniques, as well as how to be more aware of the impact that our gardens can have on wildlife and plants.
Visitors can explore a wide range of vibrant Show Gardens and Beautiful Borders – an exciting and colourful collection of gardens brought to life in a celebration of how imagination and creativity can transform outdoor space. The unique designs include space savvy ideas, upcycling and recycling, growing edibles and how gardens can benefit communities and our overall health and wellbeing.
Over 25 garden designers will be taking part in the Beautiful Borders including locally based Cath Fletcher of Fletcher Garden and Horticulture with In Momento, full of summer floral exuberance, and Deborah Hale with Who says I can’t see which challenges the notion that we only see with our eyes and invites visitors to enjoy the texture, smell, sounds and overall sensory delights that a garden can bring.
The show is also home to a large Floral Marquee, full of award-winning nurseries and displays. This year redesigned with more space between stands to browse and shop, the exhibits will reflect the later timing of the Show with displays highlighting plants in their peak during late summer and early autumn, an angle not usually seen at the Show.
Look out for local heroes including Craig House Cacti, David Cheshire Bonsai and Larchfield Trees from the West Midlands plus Grafton Nurseries, Green Jjam, Hillview Hardy Plants and Shropshire Sareccenias all from the surrounding areas. The South Midlands Bonsai group will be in attendance, as will the Midlands group of the National Vegetable Society, all ready to inspire visitors with growing tips.
As the show moves outdoors this year, a handpicked selection of artisan food and drink producers from the BBC Good Food Show will be bringing the flavour of summer to an outdoor BBC Good Food Market. From tempting tarts and cracking cookies, to sizzling spices and specialist tea blends, there’s something delicious for every palate.
With toe-tapping live music performances from bands each day on The Bandstand, BBC Gardeners’ World Live Special Edition is a fun-filled day out for all the family this summer.
Whether you’re an avid gardener, a new gardener or an armchair gardener, there’s plenty on offer to enjoy at BBC Gardeners’ World Live Special Edition this summer.
