Birmingham City Chairman Tom Wagner’s business workshop at Birmingham School

Recently students at Birmingham City FC Foundation Academy School, Ark Victoria, sat down with Birmingham City Football Club Chairman Tom Wagner for a business workshop like no other.
The Knighthead Capital Management co-founder met with young minds at the Small Heath school and discussed his career, successes, and setbacks with budding business students. The round-table discussion gave Tom Wagner the chance to meet young people in the St. Andrew’s @ Knighthead Park community, and provide some inspiration for their future careers.
Alongside the Q and A, Tom was able to share plans with the pupils for the Sports Quarter and the countless opportunities the development will provide to the current crop of secondary school students.
Tom outlined the scope of the investment into East Birmingham, detailing the manufacturing, business management, hospitality, retail, and sporting options that lie ahead for those entering the workforce in just a few short years.
Ark Victoria Academy has been a partner school with the Club’s independent charity for more than a year, with two Birmingham City FC Foundation team members working full-time in the school as mentors, coaches, teachers, and support staff. When the school day ends, the Foundation utilises the school facilities to deliver impactful community work.
Prior to Tom’s business workshop with the students, Head Girl, Amina Attaria and Head Boy, Yahya Ahmed hosted the Blues Chairman on a tour of the school, stopping to take in the Ball and Globe crests and quotes from inspirational Blues players along the way.
The visit concluded with a visit to the Blues-branded classroom to observe an everyday mentoring session to gain an insight into the life-changing work of the Foundation.
Recapping his visit, Tom said,
The Sports Quarter is going to be located less than two miles from Ark Victoria, and to meet the young people who can help shape this development is hugely important to me.
We want to hear from people in East Birmingham about how they think the Sports Quarter can deliver new opportunities for them, their families, and friends. Consulting local communities is a big focus for us as we prepare to submit a planning application next year.”
