Birmingham Women’s and Children’s Hospitals Charity Bucket List Challenge

With international travel set to be off the cards for little while longer, Birmingham Women’s and Children’s Hospitals Charity is encouraging adventurous supporters to take on a bucket list challenge a little closer to home.

This Summer and Autumn the charity is offering five UK-based treks and walks to give supporters the chance to combine fundraising with exploring some of the most picturesque beauty spots in the country.

Edale Skyline Views

All taking place between May and October 2021, supporters of all abilities will be able to choose from the following walks in aid of the patients at both Birmingham Women’s and Children’s Hospitals:

  • The Edale Skyline – This 22-mile walk is one of the most popular long-distance routes in the Peak District, treating walkers to breath-taking scenery throughout.
  • Snowdon Sunrise Trek – How about an unforgettable twilight walk to the summit of Mount Snowdon to watch the sunrise over Snowdonia?
  • Yorkshire Three Peaks – Three great peaks and 25 miles of walking in 12 hours, with some stunning views of the Yorkshire Dales thrown in for good measure.
  • West Highland Way – Spend a week trekking the beautiful Scottish Highlands, starting in the lowlands of the West Highland Way.
  • Hadrian’s Wall – A weekend walking the ‘best 40 miles of Hadrian’s Wall. Take in the amazing picturesque views of the history-packed Northumberland countryside as you ramble during the day and relax in the evenings.

Each walk will be lead by professional guides from Large Outdoors, who have walked the routes many times, so walkers know they will be in safe and knowledgeable hands. Plus, walks will be Covid-secure and take place in line with government guidance, to ensure the safety and experience of our walkers.

Miranda Williams, Head of Public Fundraising at Birmingham Women’s and Children’s Hospitals Charity, said:

The last year has been tough for charities like ours but it’s also been tough on individuals who have been stuck at home. That’s why as the world starts to slowly open up again, we’re encouraging everyone to get out and get some fresh air and enjoy the challenge of one of our beautiful walks, whilst raising vital funds to help us do more for our brave patients and support the work of our NHS Heroes.”
