I was thrilled to discover one of my friends had set up an exciting new business during lockdown creating their own machine-cut clocks. Dan from Clock Design Co is a fully qualified Electronics and Design Engineer and built the machine that cuts the detailed clocks shapes himself as well as designing each of the clocks.

I wanted to share more about their great products with you, dear reader. Take a look at clockdesign.co.uk and read more below:

During 2020 and the first quarter of 2021 more than TWO MILLION side businesses were launched in the UK according to a new study by Virgin StartUp.

One such business is Clock Design Co, a family business based up in Derbyshire in the East Midlands who design and make each wall hanging clock once an order is placed.

Speaking about their new business Clock Design Co said:

Our clocks often combine chic elegance with sleek and contemporary designs. But we also cater for the fun trendy and that quirky sense of humour demonstrated through creative designs such as retro clocks.

We use locally-sourced materials and specialised unique woods reflecting the high quality synonymous our businesses environmental and sustainability ethics.

From MDF Oak Veneer to MDF Zebrano Veneer the clocks use high quality precision finishes and they can personalise the products on request.

Clock Design Co added:

While there is no strict definition of what a clock should look like. The styles do tend to have some common features, Clock typically range from 36cm or 15″. They often have twelve numerical numbers and two hands. Styles range from the flashy to the functional to the bare-bones of cogs and mechanisms on show for all to see.

Currently available as of May 2021 are a range of nine different clock designs with plans for more in the future. Each one designed in house and hand-finished on site.

The Clock Design Co website is at clockdesign.co.uk and on Facebook at facebook.com/clockdesignco look out for them soon on Instagram.
