March 2022: Renowned for offering high quality, made-to-measure suits without the hefty price tag, Edit Suits Co. has already carved out an envious reputation with the London business elite. Now the brand is launching its first UK store outside the capital as it opens in Birmingham’s Mailbox.

The brainchild of Swiss-born Patrick Jungo and Reto Peter, Edit Suits Co. was created to fill a personal need after the duo found that off-the-rack clothing didn’t quite fit, while bespoke tailoring was just too expensive.

Relying on their insights, they discovered they could dramatically reduce supply chain costs making garments to order, and by operating a showroom model rather than high street stores. As a result, they are been able to create custom suits from £349 and shirts from £69, alongside made-to-measure chinos, overcoats, field jackets and even shorts. As Reto explains:

In all the places we lived, in our previous roles in banking and consulting, off-the-rack didn’t provide the quality we wanted and custom-tailoring was no real alternative either: In Europe, it was very expensive, and in Asian countries, the tailors lacked an understanding of modern cuts.

We decided there was only one answer to our dilemma and that was to start our own custom tailoring company that offered high-quality menswear using fabrics from prestigious mills at very competitive prices.”

Since opening its doors in London’s Bow Lane, the company quickly found success and flourished into one of the larger UK tailoring companies with bases in Bond Street and Singapore. Patrick and Reto believe the new store in Birmingham – which opened week – is the ideal next step. Patrick said:

We did a lot of research into where to go next and we saw Birmingham as the most interesting market in the UK. It is a natural extension for us – we already have a number of clients who travel from Birmingham to London so it made sense that we would come to them instead.

The Mailbox is ideally located in the city; a number of major international businesses have their headquarters here and the whole retail landscape has changed dramatically over the last decade. Added to that the Commonwealth Games in July and Birmingham really is the place to be.”

With its state of the art facilities, the Mailbox showroom will offer customers a new way to shop. During an appointment, a personal stylist understands the client’s exact needs and runs them through an extensive array of customisations and fabrics. Each custom-made suit takes around three to six weeks to create, depending on fabric choice, and if any alterations are required they will be carried out locally in Birmingham or London. Because measurements are recorded in the customer’s profile they can conveniently reorder online.

One of the key areas for Edit Suits Co. is the wedding market, where customers get the choice of some of the world’s most luxurious fabrics to craft beautifully tailored outfits to ensure the perfect fit for their big day. Reto adds:

Carefully crafted to your measurements, our products should fit you like no other: our clients receive an exceptionally high standard of service and benefit from our range of heritage fabrics from prestigious mills such as Loro Piana, Holland and Sherry, Dormeuil, Fox Brothers and Abraham Moon & Sons.”

Ruth Miley, M7’s senior asset manager for Mailbox, welcomed the arrival:

We’re pleased to be welcoming Edit Suits to Mailbox, and to be home to the brand’s first physical store outside of London, providing another high-quality retailer and even greater choice for our visitors and on-site office community.”
