March 2023: It’s time to save the spreadsheets and wrap up that meeting as the only item on the agenda this spring is the AJ Bell Great Birmingham Run Business Challenge, which is now open for entries.

A whole host of Midlands companies of all shapes and sizes are signing up for the Great Birmingham Run 10K and half marathon Business Challenge on Sunday 7th May 2023.

The Business Challenge invites the corporate world to compete for bragging rights and a fastest-time trophy at the 10K and half marathon, with the finishing times of the fastest four members of a team used to calculate the overall team time.

Previous winners of the Business Challenge include Edgbaston chartered accountants JW Hinks, the Birmingham office of KPMG, law firm Marks and Clerk LLP and engineering company Altair.

This year’s AJ Bell Great Birmingham Run features a new and improved city-centre route, which means many Business Challenge participants could be passing their workplaces near the Mailbox, Jewellery Quarter or Southside.

Teams can be any size (minimum of 4) and are all-inclusive, with no limits on team size, age or gender. It’s a great opportunity to encourage a healthy outlook for team members or staff, engage in all-important team building and focus on charity fundraising.

The winning team will receive a first-place Business Challenge plaque to display with pride. Each team member will receive a finisher’s medal, exclusive tee shirt (optional), and a finisher’s bag filled with goodies.

Paul Foster, Chief Executive at the Great Run Company, encouraged Brummie businesses to sign up for the Challenge and be part of the buzz and energy of a Great Run event.

Being part of the AJ Bell Great Birmingham Run gives everyone the chance to work towards a personal goal as well as the opportunity to support a company’s good cause or foundation along the way.

The Business Challenge encourages a positive mindset among staff and it offers wonderful team building opportunities.”
