to be launched at
Autosport International in 2020
The FIA World Rally Championship (WRC) is one of the most challenging motorsport events in the world. The marathon 14-round season, with top drivers battling on a vast range of terrain and climate, will kick off in Birmingham, UK.
Europe’s biggest motorsport show, Autosport International, has announced the 2020 season will be launched at the show for the third year in succession.
The first public day of the show, Saturday 11th January, will be themed as ‘WRC Super Saturday’ and the stars from the big four manufacturer teams of M-Sport Ford, Hyundai Motorsport, Toyota Gazoo Racing and Citroën Racing will all unveil their 2020 challengers in front of tens of thousands of fans.
World Rally Champion, Ott Tänak will be first to unveil his new car for 2020, Hyundai’s i20 Coupe WRC. Alongside the Estonian will be the drivers looking to challenge his bid for back-to-back titles. The Autosport International launch event will also showcase WRC team principals, co-drivers and the up and coming stars of WRC 2, WRC 3 and the FIA Junior World Rally Championship.
James Allen, Motorsport Network President commented:
The WRC season launch is one of the undoubted highlights of the Autosport International Show. It’s increasingly rare for world championship level motorsport to offer fans such access to cars and stars. We are thrilled that WRC took the initiative to open their season launch to the public and give show visitors an in-depth insight into what makes WRC so special. Just one week after the launch, the very same stars and cars will have travelled from Birmingham to the Alps and will be flat out in practice for Rallye Monte-Carlo ahead of the start on January 23rd. It is truly an opportunity for fans to mingle with their heroes on the eve of an epic global adventure”
Oliver Ciesla, WRC Promoter Managing Director said:
We are delighted to launch what promises to be another exceptionally competitive WRC season at Autosport International again. The first sight of newly-liveried 2020 World Rally Cars altogether, along with drivers and co-drivers appearing with their new teams for the first time, will set pulses pumping among the fans in the build-up to the opening round in Monte-Carlo a couple of weeks later. Autosport International marks the kick-off to the international motorsport season and WRC Super Saturday will provide the opportunity for our stars to talk about their hopes and ambitions for the forthcoming campaign, as well as giving fans access to their heroes and cars. I can’t wait!
Autosport International is part of Motorsport Network, one of the world’s largest independent automotive and motorsport-related publishers, connecting millions of people who love motorsport and cars. The network also creates key industry events including the annual Autosport Awards.
