December 2022: Birmingham commuters can embark on a journey to improved health as Impact 4Life Wellbeing leads a series of free fitness and wellbeing events and activities.
The Thrive Stations initiative has launched for the second year running with the backing of West Midlands Railway and funding has been provided to support a programme of activities from 9th December 2022 to the end of February 2023.
The Your Community, Your Fund scheme – also known as the Customer and Communities Improvement Fund – is a plan to develop new community connections and programmes and have a positive impact at stations, with an aim to provide accessible fitness and wellbeing services direct to the community.
Birmingham New Street Station will be the venue for the wellbeing pop-ups, designed and operated by wellbeing expert Shamala Antonio and the team from Impact 4Life Wellbeing.
The demonstrations, workshops, activities and hand-out literature aim to help the people in the area get healthy and active. Everyone is welcome to join in the sessions, which include: Smoothie Making, Pilates, Mindfulness, Stress Management Advice, Arts and Crafts and much more!
A highlight is the smoothie-making sessions, where smoothies are made by pedalling a Smoothie Bike, offering a fun way to get some gentle exercise.
The dates are:
9th December from 10am to 1pm
30th December from 10am to 1pm
16th January from 11am to 2pm
28th January from 1pm to 5pm
16th February from 10am to 1pm
28th February from 11am to 3pm
Shamala Antonio, Founder of Impact 4Life Wellbeing said:
We are delighted to be delivering this exciting project which is all about providing free and fun health and wellbeing knowledge and activities for the people of Birmingham.
Because our events are free, everyone can partake and benefit. We are welcoming people of all ages, from children to pensioners.
At Impact 4Life we love bringing different groups together through our Fitness and Wellbeing programmes and we would like to thank West Midlands Railways and Your Community Your Fund for this fantastic opportunity.”
Thrive Stations Initiative is part of the Customer and Communities Improvement Fund Programme which launched at the beginning of 2021 to support projects to benefit local communities.
