April 2024: This Summer St Basils, the Midlands leading youth homelessness charity, are inviting the public to lace up their hiking boots and join them for the Hike for Homeless 2024.
A transformative outdoor experience set for Saturday 8th June 2024, the route takes in the Welsh beautiful hills of Abergavenny. This event offers not only a chance to support vulnerable young people facing homelessness but also an opportunity to boost your wellbeing and forge lasting connections with fellow adventurers.
Barrie Hodge, Head of Fundraising and Communications at St Basils said:
The Hike for Homeless isn’t just about fundraising; it’s about promoting wellbeing and camaraderie. In today’s world, where the cost-of-living crisis and the lack of affordable housing are pushing more people into uncertainty, the need for mental and emotional support is greater than ever.
By participating in this hike, you’re not only getting fit and enjoying the great outdoors, but you’re also making a tangible difference in the lives of over 4000 young vulnerable people every year.”
Studies have shown that spending time in nature can have profound positive effects on mental health, reducing stress levels and promoting a sense of calm and wellbeing. The Hike for the Homeless offers the perfect opportunity to reconnect with nature and reap the benefits of outdoor exercise.
But the benefits don’t stop there. The team element of the hike fosters a sense of belonging and camaraderie, providing participants with invaluable support and encouragement along the way. Whether you’re conquering the trails with friends, family, or coworkers, you’ll find that the shared experience strengthens bonds and creates lasting memories.
And let’s not forget about the stunning countryside views! With every step, you’ll encounter picturesque landscapes begging to be captured and shared on social media. From rolling hills to lush forests, the countryside provides the perfect backdrop for your next Instagram post.
