New Global Role for Midlands Common Purpose Director
Via Common Purpose
October 2023: Louise Teboul, of Common Purpose, a well-respected, Birmingham leadership expert, has a new role as Partnerships Director – Global Programmes, for the international leadership development organisation.
Louise, who has been with Common Purpose for 18 years, has been leading the not-for-profit’s leadership programmes, in the region for many years and also had a UK-wide senior management role in recent years. As well as delivering programmes locally, for emerging and senior leaders, she also facilitated customised programmes for a variety of clients including the NHS and Newcastle University and specialised in work around inclusive leadership and Cultural Intelligence. Just over a year ago, Louise started leading and facilitating Common Purpose’s flagship Global Leaders Programme, whilst continuing to work in the region, but from next year she will focus completely on the Global Leaders programme, in a new Global Markets team.
About this new role Louise Teboul said:
I’m really excited about the new role – I feel like I’ve really hit the ground running already – having delivered in-person programmes, with international colleagues and participants, in Mumbai, Nairobi, London and Jakarta, in the last four months.
We use different places to host our immersive, experiential elements of the programme – effectively using cities as our classroom – through a deep dive into a wicked problem – like “How do we shape the workforce of the future?”
It’s been a real privilege to work with people from all over the world and it really does challenge your assumptions, perspectives and thinking – about leadership – as well as lots of other things. It’s all too easy to see things through our own perspective and working with an international group forces you to be curious, listen and learn … it takes you out of your own comfort zone, in a really rewarding way.
As an adopted Brummie, I’ve loved my time in Birmingham – it’s been a pleasure working with so many people and organisations over the years – too many to mention.
So, whilst I’m stepping back from my full-time Midlands role next year – I’ll still have Birmingham as my home base and stay involved, especially with organisations like the Global Chamber of Commerce. Birmingham is such a global city, so it’s more au revoir than goodbye and hopefully we’ll get even more Midlands people involved in our global work too.”
Common Purpose works with leaders at different stages of their careers, from young people, through to emerging, senior and C-suite leaders. They also run customised programmes and Bite-Sized Leadership events for a range of cross-sector clients.
