This Saturday: Party in the Park with Birmingham Hospice
Via Charlotte for Birmingham Hospice
On Saturday 22 July 2023, Birmingham Hospice will once again be holding its annual Party in the Park event. This year, there will be an extra sprinkle of summer, as the charity will be creating its very own beach on Selly Park Recreational Ground (B29 7DA).
Entry to the event is FREE, and you can expect fun for all the family. It will feature everything needed to transport you from the Midlands to the coast, including a pop-up beach, Tiki bar, live music, fairground stalls, a 15ft mega slide, street food, and children’s games and entertainment.
Birmingham Hospice is the new name for Birmingham St Mary’s Hospice and John Taylor Hospice. Its mission is, and always has been, to provide local people and their families, living with a terminal diagnosis, the care and support they need, whenever they need it.
Regarding Party in the Park, Rebecca Richards, Senior Events Manager at Birmingham Hospice, said:
We’re so excited to once again get together with our local community and raise vital funds for the hospice while spending a wonderful day in the sunshine!
We’re hoping for a huge turnout of people enjoying the live music, playing on the games or even purchasing treats from local stall holders. There really is something for everyone!
Last year’s heatwave saw the day hit 40 degrees which had a huge impact on attendance, meaning we couldn’t raise as much as we would have liked. We’re really hoping the community gets behind us this year and helps us hit our £10,000 target!”
Whether you enjoy an ice cream, grab a drink at the Tikki Bar or play on the tombola, you’ll be contributing towards the £5.5 million the hospice must raise each year to provide its services, after NHS funding.
So, gather your family and friends, grab your sunglasses and suntan lotion, and head down to Selly Park Recreational Ground (from 11am to 4pm) for what promises to be a ‘sand-tacular’ day!
