This week: Birmingham Bears coffee van tour across West Midlands ahead of T20
Via Grace for Birmingham Bears
Early May sees Edgbaston-based cricket team, Birmingham Bears, launch a free-of-charge coffee van tour across five midlands locations to promote the upcoming Vitality Blast T20 season.
The dates are:
- Tuesday 3rd May (9am to 12pm) – Mell Square, Solihull
- Wednesday 4th May (9am to 12pm) – Broadgate, Coventry city centre
- Thursday 5th May (9am to 12pm) – Brindleyplace, Birmingham; (1pm to 3pm) – Birmingham City University
- Friday 6 May (9am to 11am) – Edgbaston Stadium, Birmingham
The Bears on Tour coffee van is set to highlight the upcoming T20 season and the team’s new-season kit, which has been sustainably produced from recycled coffee beans.
Fans who love their coffee as much as their live sport can enjoy a selection of free, freshly brewed hot drinks in branded Birmingham Bears cups. There’s also the opportunity to take part in a prize draw at each location to win Birmingham Bears’ new T20 shirt – customers can simply scan a QR code on their coffee cup to be in with a chance of winning.
Players from Birmingham Bears will be visiting the coffee van at selected locations, so it’s a great opportunity to stop for a brew and meet their favourite player.
With just over four weeks to go until the opening game of this year’s T20 season, the team are gearing up for an exciting set of match days, beginning on Thursday 26th May when the Bears take on Northamptonshire Steelbacks at Edgbaston.
The home campaign will end with the eagerly anticipated local derby with rivals Worcestershire Rapids on Friday 24th June – a match that is expected to be a near sell-out.
A match ticket for a Bears game includes so much more than just the cricket, with kids inflatables, live music and free giveaways for all.
Carlos Brathwaite, T20 Captain at Birmingham Bears, said:
I know the Bears fans love the Blast and I absolutely share that feeling. I am full of excitement about leading the side in the tournament this year and this is a great way to meet fans and local people across the region before we start another exciting season.”
Matt Long, head of tenant engagement and placemaking at Brindleyplace, said:
Brindleyplace has quite a sporting heritage with the canal waterways being used for various activities and the Commonwealth Games team have been based here for some time now in preparation for the showpiece event starting in July.
Sustainability has always been a priority for the estate and everyone will be interested to see the new recycled coffee bean shirt while enjoying a free beverage from the Bears. The Brindleyplace community wish the team the very best of luck for the forthcoming T20 tournament and look forward to welcoming them to Central Square.”
