Colmore BID and partners have begun the search for vendors for Christmas in Cathedral Square, with applications now open.
Delivered in partnership with Birmingham City Council, Birmingham Cathedral and Danter Attractions, Christmas in Cathedral Square will return to the grounds of Birmingham Cathedral from Wednesday 16th November to Sunday 18th December 2022, offering a mixture of award-winning local craft, gift, food and drink stalls for visitors to peruse.
Launching in 2021, the festive market welcomed over 300,000 visitors in its first year, providing a platform for more than fifty local businesses, producers and craftspeople to showcase their goods in the run-up to Christmas. Attractions such as a helter-skelter and pop-up bar, Pigeon in the Park became firm favourites with visitors and daily live music performances from Luxury Live entertainment ensured everyone passing through was in the festive spirit.
If you are interested in taking a stall, visit: colmorebusinessdistrict.com/christmas-in-cathedral-square-vendor-applications to access the application forms. They would like all traders to have a presence within the Midlands region but encourage all to apply.
Michele Wilby, CEO of Colmore BID, said:
We set out to make Christmas 2021 one to remember and judging from the feedback we had, Christmas in Cathedral Square accomplished this. The festive market was perhaps one of the most ambitious public events we’ve delivered as it transformed the grounds of Birmingham Cathedral into a bustling Christmas experience.
After a challenging 18 months, Colmore Business District was once again full of life as people enjoyed the crafts, food, drink and live entertainment.
We’re so pleased to be bringing Christmas in Cathedral Square back for the 2022 festive period. While it might seem early to be talking about it, a significant amount of work goes into planning and delivering an event of this size. 2021’s event showcased some of the very best independent talent the region has to offer and I can’t wait to see who we will have taking over the stalls this year.”
Anna Pitt, CEO of Birmingham Cathedral, said:
Christmas in Cathedral Square in 2021 was a real success and we are delighted to be partnering again with Birmingham City Council, Colmore BID and Danter Attractions to extend the offer into 2022. We were thrilled that so many local businesses and charities benefitted from the exposure that the market offered. In addition, the market created s space for families, friends and colleagues to gather together.
Cathedral Square is an iconic and recognisable space in the heart of the city, and welcoming people in to gather together and enjoy the space is a really important part of the Cathedral’s ministry. We are looking forward to more opportunities to integrate the Cathedral’s regular pattern of services, especially Christmas Carol services, with the activity of the market.”
